The (Real) Story of Food
It’s vital to know the story of our food – where it comes from, how it is grown, who the people are that grow it and how it makes us who we are.
It’s important to think of food in this way…
If the food you eat has a good story and you eat this good story, guess what? … your life becomes a good story too!
Remember, we are what we eat.
Also, it is important to see food in this context …
If the food you eat has no life in it and you eat this lifeless food, then it will take the life out of you. But, if you eat food that is full of life, then you will surely become full of life as well – it’s as simple as that.
THE BIG PICTURE
Our existence on this planet is precarious.
Modern industrial agriculture is destroying the earth:
Desertification, water scarcity, toxic cocktails of agricultural chemicals pervading our food chains, ocean ecosystem collapse, soil erosion and massive loss of soil fertility.
Our ecosystems are overwhelmed. Humanity’s increasing demands are exceeding the Earth’s carrying capacity.
Modern agriculture causes topsoil to be eroded at 3 million tons per hour. (that’s 26 billion tons a year)
Human mass is replacing biomass and other species. The carrying capacity of the earth is almost spent.
To maintain our comfort zone lifestyles we will soon need five earths to sustain us in the style to which we have become accustomed.
